Is it just me or is the above photo really stressful? Like Really Really Stressful? Heart pounding, pulse racing, terrified-but-can’t-stop-thinking-what-will-happen-next stressful?

Whether you feel like you are constantly the cheetah or the gazelle, everything feels like life or death. Everything. Everything has to be done now, or there are dire consequences. You can feel the stress pulsing in your veins, your jaw and shoulders are tight, your breath is quick and shallow, and your stomach always in knots.

We all have a fight and flight response; and it is amazing for helping us get out of dangerous situations... like the one above. Sometimes, however, that response switch gets stuck in the “on” position leading to chronic stress, anxiety, depression, and a host of health concerns including high blood pressure, weight gain, and heart disease. Often times we can turn to less healthy ways of managing the stress which can have impacts on our finances, work, and social lives.

Somatic Experiencing can gently and effectively help clients to move through and release those trapped fight and flight energies; leading to better overall well being, relaxation, and engagement in life.
