Often times people don’t understand what is wrong with you, and what it is like. Like so many suffering with depression, you may be good at wearing The Happy Mask, but inside you feel nothing.
Its like being stuck in quick sand. The more you struggle the worse it gets. Its paralyzing.
There are many factors that contribute to depression: faulty mood regulation by the brain, stressful life events, trauma, nutrition, genetics, medications, and medical problems. Depression is as complex and unique as you are. No two people struggling with depression are the same
